Coursework : Statement of Intent

ONE BOY .WITH A HIDDEN PERSONALITY .....IS FORCED TO BRING OUT HIS TRUE COLOURS

Media Language

website plan:

• I am going to create a  website for my low-budget, idependent  which will include pictures related to my film -(below)

• Photograph 1 Will be set in a Dark bathroom where there will be a boy(protagonist)  in grey t-shirt looking into mirror with a teardrop ;behind him will be a taller  version of himself with a knife and blood stain(action codes) on his t-shirt to connote to the basic conventions of a horror movie 
• Photograph 2 will be a close up shot of a boy on a bed with hands on face with knife on the side- linking to stress or terror.
• Photograph 3 will be a medium shot of a dark mirror(usually used in horror movies to create mystery)
• My Photographs will appeal to the audience as a Horror movie because it has- Knifes,blood stains(action codes)
• My font will be a bloody /leaky , silver outlining of 'THE SWITCH'-'switch ' will be upside down. The bloody leaky font will link to the stereotype of disgust or terror
• The knife and blood connotes violence 
• The background will be navy blue or black to connote darkness -horror mirror

Representation

• My Main character will be a black boy which somewhat reinforces the stereotype of  a modern black boy of violent and arrogant however it will challenge stereotypes as normally in horror movies 'white people' are the race of actors mostly  used.
• In my film i will have more of the B.A.M.E community presented as not as much of them are presented in the movie industry .
• Especially me i will be challenging a the stereotype of a director , i interviewed the director, a young black British African man.Typical horror movies do not represent what i have included in my coursework because I've aimed to challenge that. 
• Racism in 2021 has escalated rapidly this is also a reason why i have chosen to Starr more of the B.A.M.E community.

Audience 

• My target audience for my film is 14-30 year old , basically mid teens to mid 30s
• The audience pleasures i will include in are - Thrill, horror also personal identity and diversion

As it is a horror movie, the thrill, anxiety and violent killings will be a diversion for the audience but they will also feel mixed emotions .
